- Frequencies, gain, filters & when to use them
- Passive power/radio vs active tracing
Module 2 — Equipment & Setup
- MRX / RD7200 / RD8200 controls & modes
- TX transmitters, clamps, leads, A-frames, sondes
- Induction vs direct connection, safety considerations
Module 3 — Field Techniques
- Starting a trace, verifying identity, overcoming congestion
- Depth/current checks & error avoidance
- Locating tees, joints, dead-ends and non-metallic runs
Module 4 — Advanced (RD8200)
- GPS, logging & creating basic audit trails
- Centimetre-level workflows (when paired with survey-grade GNSS)
- Data hygiene & project records
Module 5 — BYDA-Aligned Workflow
- Pre-dig checks, plans & risk controls
- Mark-out conventions & as-found documentation
