Overview

The Radiodetection RD8200SG 5-Watt Cable Locating Kit is the ultimate precision tool for professional utility locating contractors, surveyors, and infrastructure specialists. This high-performance kit is engineered for fast, accurate detection of underground cables, pipes, and buried infrastructure—empowering users to work smarter, safer, and faster. With class-leading GPS and automatic usage logging, it is a top-tier choice for organisations demanding traceable, verifiable and efficient fieldwork.

Key Features

Integrated Survey-Grade GNSS (SG) GPS System

The RD8200SG features a built-in survey-grade GNSS receiver, delivering real-time location data with centimetre-level accuracy. This eliminates the need for a separate GPS unit and ensures precise utility mapping and data capture for asset management and GIS integration.

21 Frequencies for Locating a Wider Range of Services

The highest number of frequencies from 98Hz to 200kHZ as well as the ability to choose an additional 5 custom frequencies and 4 sonde frequencies makes the RD8200SG the most versatile locator in the Radiodetection range. Even complex locates become easier.

5-Watt Output Transmitter for Long-Distance Locating

Equipped with a powerful 5-watt transmitter, this kit is ideal for pushing signal down long utility runs and through high-resistance cables or ducts. It ensures strong signal induction and signal clarity, even in noisy or complex underground environments.

TruDepth™ & Current Direction™ Technologies

Radiodetection’s TruDepth™ gives automatic depth readouts when the locator is correctly oriented over the target, reducing guesswork and error. Meanwhile, Current Direction™ technology helps accurately identify and follow a single utility among multiple parallel lines—especially in congested urban areas.

Automatic Usage Logging & Bluetooth Connectivity

Track every locate with the automatic usage-logging feature, which records time, location, operator and locate data. Using Bluetooth, users can sync with Radiodetection's RD Manager™ or other GIS and cloud-based asset management systems for seamless reporting and accountability.

iLOC™ Remote Control

With iLOC™, the RD8200SG allows remote control of the transmitter (requires TX-10B transmitter) from up to 450 metres away, eliminating unnecessary trips between the transmitter and receiver and improving onsite efficiency.

Striking Visual Display with Intuitive Interface

The unit’s bright, high-contrast screen and simple user interface provide quick visual feedback on line position, depth, current flow, GPS status and more. With minimal training, new users can operate the system with confidence and accuracy.
